Bob's Funeral Service will be officiated by Celebrant Ian Toll.

Bob passed away peacefully at Abbey Nursing Home in Mittagong on Sunday 1st February 2009 at the age of 84 years. Bob had only spent a few months at Mittagong but had lived a lot of his life in Liverpool.

Cedric Harold York, known to many as Bob, was born in Brisbane on the 11th October 1924 to George and Elizabeth (nee Patrick) York. At the age of 22 years, Bob married his sweetheart Irene Thorne in Ipswich. They were blessed with a son Robert.

Bob spent most of his working life in the Army proudly serving his country during WWII and in Vietnam. He attained the rank of Sergeant in the RAEME.

Bob was a much loved husband to Irene (deceased) and a dear father and father in law to Robert and Helen, Russell (deceased) and Christine. He was a very proud grand father to Jocelyn, Vanessa, Jodie, Jared (deceased), Kylie and Bryson and great grandfather to Shardanne and Hunter. Bob will be sadly missed by his brother Ronald and all his family and friends.

"I hope you understand what I am trying to say. This is an explanation, not an excuse.

In my childhood I learnt not to expect much – by so doing I was never disappointed.

In the midst of a crowd you can be alone. I was seldom alone but always a loner.

There are many things which are easy to give: money, advice etc. The best gift of all is not only affection but to give of yourself. This I found the most difficult.

To those who I leave, give more of yourself to those you love.

Don’t mourne me. I have done more of the things which I wanted to do in my life than most people and I am grateful, and always remember dying is part of living.

I hope the flag is never changed, and do not become a stranger in your own country."
